This is goodbye .. [BumperWars Released]

Welcome dear reader,

As all things have a beginning, there must be an end, and this is it.
We are rounding up our development for Bumper Wars.
As a team, we came very far and had a lot of fun creating this game.

During the last week, the second polish sprint, we focussed on getting everything
as pretty and smooth as possible. This will give players the most amusing experience.

For the programmers, there were some little issues that needed fixing.
Some weapons had some weird things going on, such as the inversinator. The effect
of this weapon was infinite, which is not what we wanted.
Also after using a second life power up, you became some sort of a tank, taking
little to no knockback.
Finally the boxing glove didn't have to be displayed at spawn. This is because we added
a new boxing glove animation, that fires the glove as a cuckoo clock.
Other little issues got fixed as well.

The cart movement also got little adjustments. These were just value tweaking for the
rotation and acceleration speed.

But the biggest and most important fix was the random crashes.
After some playtesting, we figured out that the environmental
hazards caused these crashes.

Both programmers did research to sounds for various events during the game and
implemented these. Most of these sounds are for weapons and make the game much better.
These are the little details that make the game more enjoyable.

Finally the HUD and menus got some rework. The endscreen displays the winning player (color)
standing on the others with the correct widgets.

The artist didn't have much more work on 3d models anymore, so he focussed particles.
He created a few new ones such as a smoke trail for the cart itself. This visualizes the
direction a player drives in and gives visual feedback.
When an airdrop lands, a particle is visible as well.
For charge, we have burning exhausts!
Some particles that were already in the game got some adjustments.

Last week, we created a new design for the HUD.
This design is now implemented everywhere.
There is also an overview of all the different weapons that are in the game to give the
players an idea of what they can expect.

Finally he figured out a way of indicating the active button on a widget during play. In the
early stages, this was just a barely visible dotted outline, so this is a big upgrade.

Outside of the game, our artist focused on creating the game trailer. Have a look at it here!

Thank you for coming along on our journey. A big Thank You to all the playtesters,
teachers and feedback suppliers. You all have been a great help to us!
Enjoy the game!
